Thigh lift or lipoectomy of the thighs ( cruroplasty ) is a plastic operation aimed at correcting the shape of the inner surface of the thighs and buttocks, improving their appearance and contour.
Thigh lift is a fairly common operation to remove excess skin after significant weight loss caused by surgery. You can only lift the thighs, and you can combine it with a lift of the buttocks.
The volume and method of lifting the thighs is determined by the doctor in consultation, assessing the condition of the skin, subcutaneous fat layer and the shape of muscle and bone tissue. Thigh lift always leaves long scars.
Contraindication:
- chronic diseases in the acute stage;
- severe forms of diseases of any internal organs;
- oncological, infectious diseases;
- severe diabetes mellitus;
- problems with blood clotting and circulation;
- planned pregnancy;
Anesthesia: general anesthesia
Duration of operation: 2-3 hours
At operations on an internal part of hips use two basic types of cuts. One starts in the fold under the buttocks and leads it to the inguinal fold. Through this incision, the skin with a layer of fat is separated from the muscles by 15 centimeters down the thigh. If the procedure involves liposuction, it is done before the incision. The required amount of skin to be removed is cut off, and the incision is sutured with a strong thread. Drainage tubes are usually placed under the skin, leaving for a day or two. The thighs are bandaged.
Another type of incision is vertical on the inside of the thigh, usually combined with an incision in the groin. The length of this incision depends on the amount of skin to be removed by reducing the diameter of the thigh. The outer and back of the thighs, as well as the folds under the buttocks can be tightened through incisions of different types. The skin on the outer part of the thigh and in the upper part of the buttocks is separated through the incision. Excess skin is removed, and the incision is sutured and scars are inevitably formed in these places. This circumstance should be soberly considered by the patient before deciding to operate.
Rehabilitation period:
After the operation for several days in the operated area will be moderate pain and discomfort, as well as the possible development of edema, swelling or numbness. After 2 weeks, the swelling usually goes away. The day after surgery, the patient is usually discharged. After two weeks, the sutures are removed. During the first two months after surgery, it is necessary to limit any physical activity on the legs. Rehabilitation takes about a month and during this time it is necessary to wear compression underwear.
There is an increased risk of infection – the wounds are near the urinary and fecal routes, require increased attention to hygiene after surgery.
